Dusit Hotels and Resorts hopes to double India room nights at its hotels in 2018

To engage Indian travel trade to build India as top five source market for the hotel group
Bangkok headquartered, Dusit Hotels and Resorts will be organising training programmes for travel agents in Tier-II and III cities with an aim to double the Indian room nights to their hotels in Thailand, Middle East, Bhutan and Maldives in 2018. As a source market, India market consumed 45,000 room nights in Dusit properties in 2017 and the target is to grow that to 80,000 room nights in 2018. This was informed by Prachoom Tantiprasertsuk, Vice President – Sales, Dusit International while interacting with TravelBiz Monitor on the sidelines of the hotel group’s roadshow in Mumbai this week.  The roadshow will travel to Delhi and Bengaluru to engage with the travel trade partners in those cities.  

 India presently ranks ninth for Dusit International in terms of room nights overall and the target is to make India it's fifth largest source market by the end of 2018, Tantiprasertsuk informed. In 2017, Indians consumed 45,000 room nights contributing 4% of overall room nights across Dusit Hotels and Resorts. 

 Present at the roadshow, Keshwar Bhagat, Director - Sales - India, Global Sales Office, Dusit Hotels & Resorts stated that Indian market has been performing well in terms of leisure and weddings segment for Dusit and the target for this year is to extend this performance to other segments as well especially MICE. "We will be organising training programmes for the travel agents to increase the awareness about Dusit brand among the Indian travel trade, especially in the Tier-II and III cities like Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana and Amritsar. Apart from this we will also be participating in key trade shows of India throughout the year," she added.

 Dusit Thani Hua Hin is the best performing property for Dusit Hotels and Resorts in terms of Indian arrivals. Jutamas Boonrat, Director of Events & Catering, Dusit Thank Huawei Hin at the roadshow shared that Indian market contributes around 15 to 20% of overall business at the property with weddings segment contributing the most.  

Talking about India business at the Dusit Thani Pattaya, On-anong Keawngamdee, Director of Sales & Marketing, Dusit Thani Pattaya stated that India ranks second for the property in terms of room nights and revenue generation. Indian travellers contributed 15,300 room nights at the property in 2017. The property hosted seven Indian weddings in 2017 and will be hosting nine Indian weddings this year. "Weddings as a segment for us is contributing extensively and we shall continue to expand this segment from the Indian market," Keawngamdee added.
