Water sports at Girgaum chowpatty to be delayed as MTDC to invite fresh bids

As per the Hindustan Times report, resumption of water sports at Girgaum chowpatty is likely to be delayed, as the Bombay high court has allowed the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) to invite fresh bids for appointing an experienced operator.

The division bench of Justice Shantanu Kemkar and Justice Rajesh Ketkar rejected the petition filed by GB Jain and Sons, challenging the MTDC’s decision to invite fresh bids from registered and experienced companies for operation, maintenance and management of water sports at Girgaum chowpatty, Mandwa in Raigad and Gangapur dam in Nashik.

The firm had approached the court hoping to prevent the MTDC from floating new tenders and asking the corporation to issue work order enabling the firm to start water sports at all three locations.
