Leisure Hotels Group, a leading hotel chain of Northern India with a major footprint in the State of Uttarakhand, has further expanded their presence in the Himalayan state by adding a boutique hotel, The Sylverton, in Mussoorie.

A colonial-era structure with a legacy dating back to 1860s, the property has been operational as a prominent hospitality abode of Mussoorie right on the Mall Road since independence.  The 45-room boutique hotel has joined the Leisure Hotels portfolio under management since May 1.  The Sylverton Mussoorie is the 26th hotel under the diversified Leisure Hotels portfolio.

Apart from three categories of rooms – Superior, Deluxe and Sylverton Suites, the hotel offers array of dining opportunities to the guests in ‘L’Attitude’, an all-day diner with Indian, Chinese, Continental and local Pahari/Garhwali cuisines; ‘The Glass House’, a casual dinner and lounge; and Jim’s Grill, an al-fresco dining at the English Garden.  All outlets serve a selection of Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

The hotel has both indoor and outdoor events spaces.  The lush green English Garden is one of the highlights of the hotel offering expansive views of the Doon Valley.  The Garden comes alive in the evenings with music and bonfire.  The hotel also has an indoor banquet hall with a capacity to host events with 200 pax capacity.

The hotel which soft opened recently after the handover will be renovating and relaunching a kid’s play and recreation area, Indulge, and a Spa and Health club by the end of this month.

“We want to revive the old colonial legacy and narrative,” said Vibhas Prasad, Director, Leisure Hotels Group while announcing the new member into the network.  “Our experience in operating properties in Uttarakhand itself gives a clear understanding of the State’s potential and market. Mussoorie was one of the few destinations in Uttarakhand where we did not have a presence.  We were keen to have our presence in Mussoorie,” he said.

The Group has plans to add another 20 rooms to the existing inventory at The Sylverton, he added. 65 rooms in a place like Mussoorie is a big thing and considering the group’s local knowledge and expertise, Prasad said that they will be geared to compete with big names in the hospitality business in the local market in coming times.

Leisure Group owns and manages 26 hotels with a combined inventory of 750 rooms.
