China Southern Airlines starts Delhi-Sanya route via Guangzhou

China Southern Airlines has extended its Delhi-Guangzhou flight (five-hour flight) to Sanya. The carrier has been operating on the Delhi-Guangzhou route since past 10 years and the additional flight to Sanya will take another 1.5 hour with one-stop check-in. In the next two months, the airline will further announce connections to 123 cities totalling to over 1,480 flights daily.

To capitalise on the new flight announcement, a 17-member delegation of agents, hoteliers and officials from Sanya Tourism came down to India to spread awareness along with local representatives from China Southern Airlines.

Based on the southern tip of Mainland China in Hainan province, Sanya boasts of the best air quality in the country and a unique cultural environment. Elaborating on the tropical seaside city, Zhang Yue Thomson, Vice Director- Marketing Communication Center, Sanya Tourism Development Commission, said that the Hainan province comprises abundant natural beauty across 40 islands, 19 bays and 258 km long coastline.

Among the must-see sights are the Nanshan Cultural Tourist Area which houses a 108 mt tallest Buddhist statue in the world and the world’s biggest Haitang Bay duty free shopping experience. Travellers can explore the tea culture of the place by trying the traditional Black and Green tea. 10 clubs promise best in class Golfing experience the year round. The city is apt for honeymooners and incentive travellers, said Thomson.

To make Sanya the preferred choice among travellers, the Sanya Tourism Development Commission will be developing 4-, 8- and 12-hour tourist circuits and welcomed delegates for travel and invest in the region, confirmed Zhang Yang, Executive Chairman, Sanya Tourism Association.

India and China are the two densely populated countries and two of the world’s fastest growing economies. It’s time to reconnect the thread and promote tourism and cultural exchange between two of the oldest civilisations globally, said Amaresh Tiwari, Honorary Secretary, India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB).
