HKTB targets end consumers directly through ongoing ‘Discover Hong Kong’ consumer fair in Delhi

Aimed at promoting Hong Kong as a family and fun destination among Indian travellers, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) for the first time has organised a consumer fair-‘Discover Hong Kong’ at Select CityWalk in Delhi. The consumer fair, which started on October 6, 2009, will conclude on the 11th of this month. Travel agents and cruise companies from Hong Kong are featuring various deals offered by them on different tour packages at the fair.

Apart from Disneyland Resort and the Ocean Park Hong Kong, attractions like Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Ngong Ping 360 are also present in the fair to display their products. HKTB through the consumer fair is also aiming at attracting Indians to Hong Kong for the upcoming events like Hong Kong Halloween Treats; Hong Kong Food and Wine Year spotlight  events (October 30 to November 8, 2009); Hong Kong Cricket Sixes (October 31 to November 1, 2009). In order to make the fair more entertaining, popular characters of Hong Kong’s Disneyland Resort and the Ocean Park will be performing live during the five-day fair.

Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor, David Leung, Regional Director – South & South East Asia, HKTB said that HKTB wanted to ‘reach the consumer’ directly, while persisting with the B2B promotions in the Indian market. This is the reason we came up with the idea of a consumer fair in Delhi. “India is one of the key source markets for Hong Kong Tourism. The market has shown resilience in spite of adversities,” opined Leung.
