Delhi CM asks state department to think of new ideas to promote tourism

Inaugurating the 28th Garden Tourism Festival at Garden of Five Senses—located at Said-Ul-Azaib village, close to the Mehrauli heritage area—Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi, urged the state tourism department to think of new ideas to promote Delhi as a tourism hub. He said that his government is committed to work towards this, considering the rich cultural heritage of the city. Facilities for tourists should be increased, he suggested, adding that the tourism sector will further contribute to employment generation, he added.

Also present on the occasion, Jitender Singh Tomar, Minister for Law & Justice, Home Affairs, Tourism, and Art & Culture, Government of Delhi, mentioned that the Garden Festival has been organised every year with a distinct theme. This year, the theme is 'Landscaping with Hanging Plants'. He also said that innovative opportunities are presented at the event to beautify and enhance Delhi's landscape, despite space and other constraints.

Ramesh Tiwari IAS, Managing Director & CEO, Delhi Tourism, mentioned that the department will work closely with the government to make Delhi a tourism hub. He also said that the Festival is a unique platform for all to come together and work towards enhancing the landscape of Delhi. A nearly 20-acre venue for Garden of Five Senses is a project of Delhi Tourism, and indeed a special one, Tiwari said.
