Akquasun Holidays, the Mumbai-based destination management specialist, will launch akquasunb2blive.com this year. Sujit Nair, Founder & Group Managing Director, Akquasun Holidays, informed, “Akquasunb2blive will be our agents portal and will initially contain our Maldives inventory. Over the coming months we will add all our destinations, and by the end of 2013, our entire network will be accessible online.”
Additionally, the company will conduct Familiarisation (FAM) trips this year for the travel trade, which will enable them to have a first-hand impression of some niche destinations. Nair added, “We have five sales networks at present, which are India (by far the biggest), UAE, Russia, China and Sri Lanka, and we are totally focused on our B2B relationships in these markets.” He informed that in 2013, the company’s focus will be to consolidate the business that Akquasun Holidays has from its primary source markets, and explore better ways of distributing products and inventory.
Nair said that 2012 was an average year for the travel trade, and believes that the outlook for 2013 is much better. He observed, “The travel and tourism industry in India is growing and market sentiments are looking great. We had a mediocre season last year, but looking towards the initiative taken by the various tourism bodies and investments into India’s travel trade, this year will offer greater impetus for the growth of outbound to various niche destinations emerging as well.”
Speaking about his relationship with Enterprising Travel Agents Association (ETAA), Nair said, “ETAA has been a great initiative, keeping in mind the agents who have not been exposed directly to the principals/DMCs, and also airlines. As a member of ETAA, I believe the bridges will be met and concerns addressed.”
