Online travel portal Cleartrip has decided to target the travel trade through AgentBox, a booking tool developed exclusively for the tour operators and travel agents. Cleartrip also plans to target the corporate traveller in 2012 with its self-booking tool which caters to the needs of corporate travellers, Cleartrip for Business, which is currently used by approximately 1200 corporate travellers, while AgentBox has approximately 400-500 users in India.
Speaking about the company's performance in 2011, Noel Swain, Executive Vice-President, Supplier Relations, Cleartrip said that overall the year was good in terms of performance. He further added that internationally Cleartrip has established an office in Dubai to tap the Middle East market. Swain added that Cleartrip had witnessed a 70 per cent increase in domestic flights bookings between September and November 2011 in comparison to same period in 2010.
“The highest number of domestic flight bookings of 159,289 were from New Delhi. Domestic flight bookings from Ahmedabad have increased by 80 per cent this year and Kathmandu also showed an increase in flight bookings by 56 per cent this year. There was also a 100 per cent increase in hotel bookings compared to the same period last year,” informed. He also said that bookings of three and four star hotels in Delhi increased three times this year and 5,614 tourists opted for budget hotels in the capital. He added that Cleartrip had observed that maximum of their users are flying to Goa or Dubai this Christmas.
