Desaru Coast, Malaysia sees immense potential in the Indian tourist market

To tap both Leisure and Business Travellers
In order to tap both leisure and business travellers from the Indian tourist market, Tourism Malaysia has recently introduced the country's new tourism destination in the south-eastern region. – Desaru Coast, developed by Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd.  It has a total area of over 3,900 acres and 17 Km-long beachfront facing the South China Sea.

“Desaru Coast’s India tour will open doors for us to connect with the buyers of all sectors within the travel-value chain commence whilst positioning Desaru Coast as the destination of Choice amongst holidaymakers and business travellers alike within the region. We look forward to sharing a preview of the destination that will appeal to international travellers with its myriad of offerings,” said Philip Whittaker, Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Theme Parks & Attractions and Chief Commercial Officer of Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn. Bhd.

The destination will be home to popular hotels – The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, and Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast along with two golf courses – The Els Club Desaru Coast – Ocean Course and The Els Club Desaru Coast – Valley Course. Catering to the MICE segment, the location possesses the Desaru Coast Conference Centre – a venue comprising of banquet area and exhibition space that can accommodate up to 1,000 participants.  

“India has always been an important market for Malaysia. In 2016, a total of 6,38,578 Indian travellers visited Malaysia, maintaining its position as the sixth top tourist generating market in the country. Desaru Coast will definitely make the Indian excited and thus giving a boost to arrivals to the country,” said Mohd Hafiz Hashim, Director – Tourism Malaysia, Mumbai.

The Desaru Coast is also participating in the 4th India International Travel & Tourism (IITT) Exhibition in Mumbai and the South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE), New Delhi to showcase its latest developments to the Indian Buyers.

Comprehending the potential of Indian tourist market, Tourism Malaysia is set to tap it with an aggressive six-month long marketing and promotion campaigns from January to June 2018. Desaru Coast is one of the organisations participating in the IITT representing Malaysia.
