ERP website 'iTraveller.com' registers 40 customers since launch in Apr 2013

iTraveller.com, a cloud-based automation platform for travel agents and tour operators, has garnered more than 40 customers since its launch in mid-April 2013, and now aims to gain over 1,000 customers by early 2015. iTraveller.com automates back-end manual processing activities of travel agents, both internally and externally. According to Shiju Radhakrishnan, Founder and CEO, iTraveller.com, it has been a rollercoaster ride to create a strong foothold in the market ever since, especially to sell a novel concept as this in the market. The company had registered itself in September 2011 and had been operating with a pilot prototype.

A travel agent or tour operator has to first sign up with the website. There is a seven-day trial period that one can avail of without any restriction. At the end of the trial period, one has to pay a set-up fee of Rs 8,435, plus taxes. All bookings made after the registration are charged on a pay-per-use basis and a monthly bill is charged for the transactions undertaken.

The four major categories of usage are Planner (quick tour package creation module), Reservations (for hotel and transportation bookings), Client Experiences (for efficient ground handling of clients during travel) and Sales (for track and monitor monthly sales and incentive management). The member may add each of these features, based on the nature and size of their business at the time of configuring the application. A registered member can design itineraries for clients, book directly with the hotel selected, book ancillary activities, make transportation arrangements, save, update or change transaction status, and manage customer database.

Speaking of the challenges that iTraveller is further anticipating, Radhakrishnan said, “Reaching the length and breadth of the fragmented market is a challenge in itself. We are working on addressing every possible travel agent that we can and are working on our long-term aim of registering at least 20,000 travel agents and tour operators by 2018 from across the country.”

Radhakrishnan further stated, “Automation has got a huge amount of scope in fields that are purely manual in nature. The travel and tourism industry in the country has about 2.5 lakh travel agents, but not a single automation platform or an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform that could help improve their efficiency. In a disorganised industry like this, there is a great scope for automated functioning. A travel agent can always improve the way he delivers and conducts his work. Being experts in process automation, we are good at decoding the complex workflows that travel agents perform and capture all of them on a platform. Complex bookings are made dynamic through iTraveller.”

To increase visibility in the market, iTraveller.com plans to participate in travel trade fairs and advertise itself in roadshows, besides creating a social media presence, Radhakrishnan informed.
