New Zealand has won Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Award 2012 for Favourite Emerging Destination Overseas at a recently concluded ceremony held at The Oberoi, Gurgaon. Kevin Bowler, Chief Executive, Tourism New Zealand, said, “We are so pleased and excited to have received this award and would like to thank readers of Condé Nast Traveller for their passion and enthusiasm for New Zealand. India is a growing market for New Zealand with holiday arrivals increasing 13.5 per cent in the year ending October 2012. Our activity in market aims to increase awareness and preference of New Zealand. Receiving this award confirms that New Zealand is recognised as an appealing holiday destination in this key visitor market.”
This year’s award ceremony marked the second edition of the Condé Nast Traveller Readers Travel Awards, which are to be held annually. The awards are decided by reader’s votes for their favourite cities, countries, hotels, airlines and spas across 24 categories.
Earlier this year, Tourism New Zealand was named Australasia's Leading Tourist Board at the World Travel Awards and the ‘Favourite Country – Worldwide’ at the Telegraph Travel Awards.
