Visit Korea Committee will host ‘Korea Grand Sale 2013’ from January 11 to February 28, 2013, in areas most visited by foreigners in Seoul and the metropolitan area, as well as Gangwon-do, Jeju and across the country. The festival aims at fostering shopping and tourism by offering foreign visitors discounts and special offers on shopping, lodging, food, beverages, and art performances, among others. Leading departmental stores such as Galleria, Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai, and duty-free shops such as Dongwha, Lotte, Shilla, and Walkerhill, and the Korea Tourism Organization will participate. Also, representative shopping malls, such as Doota, Hello apM, Gimpo Airport Outlet, and Yeoju & Paju Premium Outlets will join the festival.
An opening ceremony will be followed by various events, including a K-pop concert, Theme Weeks of each participating vendor, and other interactive contents, to promote the participation of foreign tourists. The Committee will conduct a special event in Myeong-dong, providing shopping and tourism information, besides holding experience programmes, including traditional Korean food tasting and makeup tutorials.
Also, 50 top-class hotels across the country will offer ‘3+1’ or ‘4+1’ benefits following the ‘One-More-Night Promotion’, where foreign visitors will be provided with a free additional night for their stay. The participating hotels will also offer discounts on foods and beverages during the Korea Grand Sale period.
Jae-Sang, Lee, Director, Korea Tourism Organization, said, “The Korea Grand Sale 2013 will be even more successful than the earlier ones as we are adding experience programmes for tourists and we are actively working on marketing activities to attract shopping lovers from India to visit Korea.”
