Abacus, Amadeus foray into M-commerce arena

Mobile Commerce or M-commerce technology which permits consumers to carry out transactions on their mobile device, will now be pushed in a big way through Global Distribution companies like Amadeus and Abacus International. While Abacus has announced the launch of the mobile version of Abacus VirtuallyThere, Amadeus will soon launch their mobile technology. Both companies plan to roll out these mobile solutions in the international market and India will be included at a later stage. Amadeus is currently working on developing the mobile technology which can be compatible on the Apple i-phone along with regular hand-sets which work on GSM and CDMA networks. The company has heavily invested in technology including technology for M-Commerce so that it can cater to different segments of users. “We are currently working with a few airlines to launch the services, however it is very premature to disclose the airline names and the nature of the technology offered,” said Damian Hickey, Vice President, Airline Business Group Asia Pacific, Amadeus.
