According to a PTI report, the newly formed Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) is planning to review the User Development Fee (UDF) of up to Rs 1,070 charged at Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL). AERA may also review the Airport Development Fee (ADF) levied at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai.
Yashwant Bhave, Chairman, AERA said, “We would revise the UDF at Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports as well as the ADF at Delhi and Mumbai.” The fee will be revised keeping in mind the financial requirements of the airport projects and traffic projections. Passenger numbers have also improved since August this year on a year-to-year basis.
The GHIAL levies UDF of Rs 375 and Rs 1,000 on every outgoing domestic and international passenger respectively. BIAL also charges Rs 260 and Rs 1,070 from domestic and international passengers. The Indian government also allowed DIAL to levy ADF of Rs 200 and Rs 1,300 on every domestic and international passenger, respectively and MIAL to levy Rs 100 and Rs 600. |
