AI to soon introduce daily return flights to Agartala

To be second hub for AI flights in North East after Guwahati

According to a UNI report, Air India (AI) will soon introduce daily return flights to Agartala Airport from certain important destinations of the country, making it the second hub in the North East after Guwahati. As part of the intra-connectivity between North Eastern states and the rest of the country, Air India has contemplated to increase the number of flights and shift aircraft to Guwahati and Agartala stations daily. With an aim to provide national and international connectivity to the region Air India has planned to expand its operations over the next three years, taking the number of weekly flights from the current 65 to about 1,000 besides, connecting to Bangkok.

Referring to a statement of Arvind Jadhav, CMD, Air India, certain AI officials pointed out that the expansion will be implemented with the assistance of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). Jadhav also held a meeting recently with Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and announced that improvement in connectivity in the region was a part of the airline’s programme to provide better connectivity to Tier-II cities.
