Air India resumes Kolkata-London flight; BA suspends flights on the same route

According to a PTI report, Air India yesterday resumed its Kolkata-London flight even as British Airways (BA) suspended its operations on the same route due to shortage of passengers. The Air India Kolkata-London flight via Delhi left Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at around 10:30 am with 122 passengers. Meanwhile, the last flight of British Airways (BA) which operated direct flights to London from Kolkata three days a week, left at around 4:45 am yesterday.

Air India sources informed that National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL) had suspended its service on the Kolkata-London route in October last year, but now it will operate flights between Kolkata and London via Delhi daily. Lufthansa and Emirates are the other two airlines, which operate flights on the route. While the former has three flights a week, Emirates operates on all days via Dubai.
