According to a PTI report, Air India has decided to operate the newly-acquired B777 aircraft for its long-haul flights during its winter schedule starting October 25, 2009, in order to provide comfort and luxury to passengers on its long-haul routes. Air India will deploy the B 777 aircraft on all its seven West-bound destinations and one to Tokyo. Currently, the state-of-the-art B777s is available on Air India flights to New York, Chicago, Frankfurt and London. The same product will now be extended to Newark, Paris, Toronto and Tokyo, thus ensuring a consistent and superior product on long-haul destinations in US, Europe, Canada and to Tokyo.
With more than half of the fleet now comprising of new aircraft, it has given the airline an opportunity to rework its winter schedule in such a manner as to provide passengers with a product that matches the best in the industry, both on international and domestic sectors.
