According to a PTI report, major Indian Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) firm, Air Works, which undertakes repairs and advanced maintenance of Boeing-737s and ATR planes, has received certifications from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to carry out the job on A-320s. As per the company’s top officials, Air Works is close to clinching deals with airlines to start its Airbus operations. The EASA and DGCA certifications will allow the company to undertake MRO work on the A- 318s, A-319s, A-320s and A-321s, loosely called the A-320 family.
“We have received EASA and DGCA certifications for Airbus operations and are in the process of finalising a contract with an airline for A-320 maintenance within a week,” stated Vivek N Gour, CEO, Air Works who was appointed recently. He, however, refused to name the airline. According to Gour, the company has been in talks with several airlines in India and the Middle East. He said that there are over 150 of A-320 family of aircraft flying in the region. |
