Navi Mumbai-based Airnetz Aviation, a private jet helicopter and turbo prop charter Service Company has proposed for an airport at Mangaon, around 100kms away from Mumbai. The proposed airport is expected to be operational by October 2011. According to Atul Khekade, Co-Founder and CEO, Airnetz Aviation; the proposed airport is in the planning process. The proposed paved runway for the airport is 4000 ft, wherein midsize private jets and ATR aircraft can land. Currently, the pre-sales process is being carried out for various service providers who are interested to invest in the airport.
Divulging further details on the airport, Khekade said, “Since the proposed airport is on a private land, DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) is not going to play a crucial role, though we will have to meet the DGCA laid requirements for private airports.
Apart from the DGCA requirements, the airport will be incorporating additional standards for night landing, MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facility and a pilot training institute.” |
