Akshar Travels Pvt Ltd to foray into River Cruising on Sabarmati by 2010

Ahmedabad-based, Akshar Travels Pvt Ltd which caters to the outbound market, will foray into River Cruising on the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad by 2010. The travel company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 75 crore with the Government of Gujarat during the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2009 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat which concluded on January 13, 2009. The company in its first phase (May 2010) will introduce five cruises with a capacity of 300 people each and will deploy two cruises each in the second and third phase which will begin in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The investment will also include waiting area, parking and two restaurants (traditional) on the river front along with cruises and restaurants on board.

Speaking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Akshar Travels Pvt Ltd informed, “The river cruise will offer dinner and party on Sabarmati and will operate from Subhash and Ellis Bridge. River Cruising will be an added advantage for tourists to come and explore the city.” The river cruises will also be promoted to locals as well as tourists – both domestic and international.
