Alkhuddam, a leading business house in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), will organise the first Alkhuddam Kashmir Tourism Conclave (AKTC) at SKICC in Srinagar on May 13 and 14 this year to examine ways to enrich visitor experience, learn from winning destinations good practice models in Sustainable Tourism and ways to implement the policies and programmes, study national, regional and international initiatives and generate ideas on enhancing sustainability and competitiveness of the state's tourism products and services.
The theme of the Conclave will be 'Delivering Excellence', wherein issues such as tourism competitiveness and societal prosperity; environmental management of tourist destinations; quality, satisfaction and behavioural intentions, will be discussed. Around 500 delegates from J&K and other regions of India are expected to attend the Conclave. Besides, there will be a large participation of VIPs, ministers and government officials, including Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K, heads of national tourism bodies and national trade associations such as FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, TAAI, TAFI, IATO and ADTOI.
Further, the official logo of AKTC was recently launched by Shailender Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, in the presence of Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Development Commissioner, Srinagar. In his welcome address, Kumar appreciated the initiative taken by AKTC and tourism players of the state, and assured support to make the Conclave a purposeful event. Also present at the launch of the logo were Saleem Beg, Ex-DG Tourism and Convener, Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage – J&K Chapter; Abdul Hamid Punjabi, President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Haji Azim Tuman, Chairman, Houseboat Owners Association; Ibrahim Siah, President, Travel Agents Society of Kashmir; Faiz Bakshi, President, Kashmir Hotel And Restaurant Owners Federation; Showkat Chowdhary, President, Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Association; Nazir Tunda, President, Association of Kashmir Tour Operators; and Shamim Ahmed Shah, Chairman, TAAI - J&K Chapter, among others.
