ANTO looking at innovative marketing strategies to attract Indian tourists

Plans to promote destination through mobile and online medium

Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) in India is looking at innovative marketing activities to attract Indian tourists to Austria. ANTO plans to promote the destination through mobile and online medium. Having targeted the upper middle class and first time travellers to Austria, the tourism board will introduce mobile promotions for Austria in select metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor, Christine Mukherji, Director, ANTO said, “Promotions through the mobile platform will be targeted for users who are able to use WAP applications on the cell phone. By selecting a specific target group among the cell phone users, we will be able to reach the right target audience who can be the potential travellers to Austria. The mobile promotions will be introduced for the upcoming summer holidays.”

On the online front, ANTO will start an online campaign along with one of the tour operators in India. The campaign once started will have contests and other innovative items and will be live on the website for a period of two months. “It is a little premature to disclose the name of the tour operator
