ANTO targets ten per cent growth from Indian market this year

The Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) is kick-starting a three-city workshop today at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai and will move towards Chennai and New Delhi. The three-city workshop will focus on educating the travel trade about products and updates for the coming summer season. Talking to TravelBiz Monitor about the targets for this year, Christine Mukherji, Director, ANTO said, “We witnessed about ten per cent plus growth last year and we are targeting the same for this year.” She further added that the suspension of Austrian Airlines services from Mumbai will affect tourism close to negative three per cent. However, the tourism board will continue to work with all the airlines that connect Austria through different destinations in Europe.

The three-city workshop will also see the Vienna Tourist Board and Innsbruck Tourist Board promoting their products and segments to end consumers. Vienna Tourist Board received about 10.2 million bed nights in the year 2008 with an increase of 5.8 per cent.
