Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is in the process of forming an autonomous body to promote Hyderabad as a destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Tourism. The state tourism department along with the hospitality players, airlines and travel service providers is in the process of launching an initiative called Visit Hyderabad to promote the city as a lucrative destination for MICE. The initiative will be based on a Public-Private- Partnership (PPP) model. While it is in its final stages of formation at the moment, it is slated for launch by June 2009.
The initiative currently consists of about 12 members including hotels like Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Novotel, Taj Krishna, ITC Kakatiya, Marriott, Ista, airline and bus operators, GMR Airport, KW Conferences and travel and tourism operators with APTDC as the primary holder. It is expected to grow in terms of members with budget hotels, guest houses and other five star operators also participating in the initiative.
