According to a report in the Times of India, with an aim to attract tourists to Rajasthan during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has formed a special national tourism committee headed by royal scion of Jodhpur, Diya Kumari.
The committee will especially look after the promotion and marketing of various tourism products of Rajasthan, restoration and maintenance of monuments and upgrading tourism infrastructure in the state. It proposes to partner with the government for the purpose.
Swati Piramal, President, Assocham, said, “We have also proposed the state government to set up a high-power committee under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister to initiate steps in this regard under Public-Private-Partnership.”
Piramal unveiled three of Assocham’s national committees in critical emerging sectors tourism and hospitality, gems and jewellery and education. She said, “These have been included under the aegis of the key focus areas for Assocham in the forthcoming year, based on the theme of Growth, |
