Buddhist Monuments Development Council (BMDC), a national organisation dedicated to promote Buddhist sites in India, has decided to provide marketing support for Buddhist circuit train, Mahaparinirvan Express run by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This was informed by Prof Arvind Alok, Chairman, BMDC. He further said that BMDC had been approached by IRCTC to provide marketing support for the Buddhist circuit train as the Council is associated with several Buddhist countries and has strong links with Buddhist associations and temples spread across these countries.
According to BMDC, recently they organised a meeting with C Prakash, Member Traffic, Indian Railway Board and Chairman of IRCTC to discuss details of the marketing support. Although the Council decided to deliver marketing support for IRCTC’s Buddhist train, no decision was taken on the business module, whether the Council will charge fees or not. However, according to BMDC sources the Council will be charging a nominal amount. BMDC has planned to start marketing activities immediately. It will market this train in all Buddhist countries |
