| | The boating facility at Thekkady Lake at Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala which was closed after the boat accident in which over 40 tourists lost their lives last month, will resume operations from the first week of next month. This information was divulged by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister of Home and Tourism, Kerala exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor.
Balakrishnan informed that the state government has ordered complete safety and security audit at all tourist destinations where boating facility is available, and the process should be completed in the next ten days. Mentioning about the various safety measures, Balakrishnan said that safety gadgets, including lifebuoys will be made mandatory for all the tourist boats in the state. Safety precautions/guidelines will be displayed prominently in various languages in all boats.
