The French Embassy along with Culturesfrance yesterday announced that 'Bonjour India', a three month long multi-city French Festival will commence from next month till February 2010. The Festival is aimed at celebrating Indo-French relationship and co-operation through series of exhibition, concerts, literary meetings, film festivals, debates, conferences, food festivals and economic, educational and scientific exchanges. The Festival will be held in 18 Indian cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kochi, Mumbai, Mysore, Nashik, Pondicherry, Pune, Trivandrum and Varanasi during the three months. The Festival aims at enhancing the cultural and trade ties between both the countries resulting in improved tourism figures.
Jerome Bonnafont, Ambassador of France in India said, “The aim of the Festival is to bring together the two countries and facilitate dialogue and corporation in varied fields like art and culture, education, science and technology, economy.
