| | According to the latest tourist arrival statistics released recently by Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) in its International Travel Survey, with 17,277 tourists visiting Canada in May 2010, India ranked second in the total number of Asian arrivals. This has been marginally below Japan which notched up 17,896 arrivals over the same period. The only other country with larger numbers was Australia which in effect means that India ranked as the sixth largest source market in the world (outside USA) for Canada during this particular month.
The numbers for May 2010 also reflect the fact that arrivals from India registered an impressive growth of 21.1 per cent over the same period of the previous year. The total number for the months of January to May 2010 was 44,943, up from 39,438 of the corresponding months in 2009 – a double digit growth of 13.96 per cent.
