According to a report in Times of India, touted as a one-stop facility for visitors to Chandigarh, it was not only meant to help them plan their stay in the city but also chalk out further travel options in other states of the region.

The concept was to integrate tourism planning for attracting more people to the city. The Centre was to come up in Inter-state Bus Terminus, Sector 17, once all bus counters had been shifted to ISBT-43.
