In a bid to develop Kochi airport into a state-of-the-art aerotropolis, Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is looking at developing a hospitality district, exhibition centre, aerospace museum and a golf course for travellers. CIAL is still in the planning stage for hospitality district, aerospace museum and a golf course, while the exhibition centre is in the development stage and is likely to start operations in another year. CIAL is looking at developing three and five-star category hotels, further details of which were not disclosed. For the aerospace museum, CIAL plans to include model aircraft; real aircraft; engines; aeronautical equipment; models of airports; ATC tower; and illustrations and write ups on the evolution of aviation and airports over the years.
Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor, A C K Nair, Airport Director, CIAL said, “By adopting the aerotropolis concept for Kochi, we are looking at attracting more travellers and enhancing their airport experience with various activities.
