Common entry tickets for World Heritage sites, other ASI protected monuments to be introduced in three months

Taj Mahal to have exclusive new entry ticket

A common entry ticket for all World Heritage sites, except the Taj Mahal and another one for all the ticketed monuments protected by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will be introduced within three months. The Taj mahal will have an exclusive new entry ticket. All these tickets are specially designed and will be available at the ASI headquarters and its booking counters at the monuments. Hotels and travel agents will be able to buy these tickets in bulk. According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release, this information was disclosed in the Lok Sabha yesterday by V. Narayanasamy, Minister of state for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs in a written reply.

The Minister also informed that the Government of India (GoI) has decided to install audio-guide system at Red Fort and Taj Mahal after its installation in Qutub Minar in view of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games 2010. This decision has been taken in order to enable tourists to get comprehensive information about the history of the said monuments. Narayanasamy said that Expression of Interest (EoI) have already been received from reputed agencies having expertise in audio guide system
