Delhi to host 'Sikkim Festival 2009' on the 10th and 11th of next month

Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of Sikkim is organising 'Sikkim Festival 2009' at 'The Garden of Five Senses' in New Delhi on January 10 and 11, 2009 to promote Sikkim as a tourist destination. This is the first time that such festival has been organised in Delhi by Government of Sikkim.

Speaking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor, SBS Bhaduria, Secretary Tourism, Sikkim, said, “The objective of organising the event is to promote Sikkim in the Northern India and to highlight the state as a year round tourist destination. The festival will showcase cultural dances, handicraft, authentic Sikkim cuisine, and tourism attractions in various segments like adventure, ecotourism etc. It will be an exhibition-cum-experience for the visitors. The festival will act as a platform to promote Sikkim tourism and we look forward to make it a success.”

The two day event will start at 11 am and will conclude at 5 pm on each day. The chief guest for the Festival will be Pawan Kumar Chamling, Chief Minister, Sikkim. Department of Tourism, Government of Sikkim will be approaching Chief Minster of Delhi and Haryana to be present at the event as chief guests.
