DGCA calls on 16 airlines to discuss zero commission issue on September 7, 2009

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has called on all the 16 airlines, working on the zero commission in India, for a meeting on September 7, 2009 at DGCA Conference Hall in New Delhi. The meeting, under the Chairmanship of R K Maheswari, Joint Director General, DGCA, will discuss the implementation of the direction given by the Kerala High Court concerning the zero commission issue. The meeting will be attended by trade associations like TAAI, TAFI, IAAI.

As reported by TravelBiz Monitor on August 15, 2009, as per the writ petition filed by IAAI against zero commission airlines, the Kerala High Court passed an order to the DGCA (Respondent 2) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) (Respondent 1) to ensure that Rule 135 (Tariff) of the Aircraft Act 1937 to be implemented on all the zero commission airlines to ensure commission for Indian travel agents from all foreign airlines following zero commission regime with immediate effect.
