DGCA likely to declare commission structure verdict post Diwali this month

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), according to sources has taken a decision on the commission structure for travel agents and is likely to reveal the details this month post Diwali. The decision on the commission structure is awaiting the final approval of Dr Nasim Zaidi, Chief, Directorate General of Civil Aviation who is currently out of the country. When contacted R K Maheswari, Joint Director General, DGCA informed that currently they are unable to comment on the result but probably the travel fraternity could expect a result after Diwali.  

DGCA had been instructed by the Kerala High Court to take a decision on the commission structure for the travel agents from the 16 foreign airlines following the zero commission regime in India. The Kerala High Court, in response to a writ petition filed by the IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) had ordered DGCA (Respondent 2) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) (Respondent 1) in a judgement passed on July 13, 2009 to ensure that Rule 135 (Tariff) of the Aircraft Act 1937 be implemented both in letter
