DGCA seeks extension up to year-end from Kerala High Court to take decision on zero commission issue

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), prior to taking a decision on the zero commission issue regime on December 18, 2009, had submitted a letter to the Registrar, High Court of Kerala seeking one or two weeks more extension period to take a decision on the same, and likely to take a decision on the same by this year-end. DGCA also mentioned that its office is in the process of taking a decision on the zero commission issue in consultation with the Ministry of Law.

As per the Kerala High Court verdict passed on August 15, 2009, it had directed DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) to implement agency commission, as per the law, from all 16 zero commission airlines. The Kerala High Court had also directed DGCA to take a decision on the issue within four months period from judgment date. Certain sources from the travel trade fraternity informed that they are hoping for a favourable decision from DGCA by end of this year.
