Domestic tourism in India is currently booming due to Christmas and New Year celebrations, as per travel trade experts in India. P P Khanna, EC Member, Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) mentioned that there has been approximately 20-25 per cent growth in the domestic tourism sector this month compared to last month. Khanna said, “We receive mix category of clienteles such as high-end and middle class who prefer up-scale tourism products such as Taj and Oberoi. Some even ready to spend Rs 33,000 for per night in Goa and many other places in the country.”
According to the travel trade, favourite destinations during this time are Goa, Kerala, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, while most preferred tourism products are beach and backwaters. Subhash Verma, Vice President, ADTOI, who is also the Managing Director of Travel Plus, said that they currently receive mostly middle class tourists who are considering Goa and Kerala as favourite destinations, as per the queries and organised tours to these places. |
