DoT, Government of Jammu and Kashmir plans to develop new tourism destinations in the state

Plans to organise Adventure Tourism Convention in the state

The Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Jammu and Kashmir is in the process to develop new tourism destinations in the state- Bangus, Aharbal, Gurez, Zanskar, Nobra, Baderwah, Poonch and Rajouri etc. It is also planning to develop various tourism activities related to Adventure Tourism in these areas and also create campsites and provide basic infrastructures at these destinations. This information was divulged by Farooq Shah, Director Tourism, Kashmir. Shah was in New Delhi yesterday to attend a B2B travel trade fair. During the fair, DoT, Government of Jammu and Kashmir organised a press conference and showcased a presentation on Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu. The conference was attended by Tanveer Jahan, Secretary Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir; Rafiq Qadiri, Managing Director, Jammu Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) and various tour operators from India and abroad.

Jahan said that DoT, Government of Jammu and Kashmir is also planning to open about seven new trekking areas in the state. She further said that they will get the security forces to clear some trekking areas,
