A 30-member business delegation from Italy, Slovenia and Vietnam will be visiting Nepal from today till the 27th of this month, with a view to develop tourism between Europe and Asia, as well as study potential of tourism promotion with Nepal. The team comprises of tour operators, tourism entrepreneurs and media persons. According to a Kantipur report, speaking at a press conference yesterday in Kathmandu, Dibya Mani Rajbhandari, President, European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry (EEC)-Nepal, said that the tourism sector had experienced some relief after the end of the armed conflict, but that it was again going through hard times because of the global financial crisis. He added that the programme was being implemented by EEC-Nepal under the project European-Asian Integration in Sustainable Tourism Management (Asian Tour) in Nepal with a special focus on tourism-related Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Intermediary Business Organisations (IBOs) and local institutions. The Asian Tour project is funded by the European Union under the Asia Invest Programme. Other project partner countries are Italy, Slovenia, Vietnam and Mongolia. |
