Ecuador introduces Visa on Arrival for Indians

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ecuador to visit India in November, 2008

Ecuador, which opened its embassy in India in 2006, has introduced Visa on Arrival in the country, with effect from June 20, 2008. This short term visa will be available for 90 days and can be used for multiple entries. “We have eased visa regulations in order to bring in more tourists to the country. This will prove to be beneficial as tourists don’t have to go through the process of acquiring a visa for Ecuador,” said Carlos Abad, Ambassador, Ecuador. Apart from this, in order to promote Ecuador as a tourist destination, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ecuador, will visit India in November, this year and explore the possibilities of increasing trade relations between the two countries. The country also plans to conduct a gastronomy event in November, 2008 along with road shows and seminars to increase awareness about the destination in the Indian market.

In terms of tourism offerings, Ecuador offers Galapagos Islands, the coastal belt, mountains and Amazon Jungle to tourists. “Tourists can club Ecuador with Peru and visit World Heritage Site of Machu Pichu.
