Emirates continues with 5 % commission for agents

In a recent development, Emirates has sent out circulars to agents across the country informing them of the fact that the airline will continue to pay agents five per cent commission. This is a change from the earlier circular, which was sent out to agents informing that the airline will withdraw the five per cent commission effective April 1, 2009. According to sources, “Emirates will continue to pay agents five per cent commission on the gross fare.”

The reversal of zero commission by Jet and Kingfisher has certainly put the agents in a favourable light, further substantiating the role of an agents and its importance to an airline. It has also been given to understand that the associations will in the coming days take up the zero commission issue with international carriers particularly those who have adopted the zero per cent regime.
