Etihad Airways, United Arab Emirates’ national airline, recently signed a Joint Venture deal with Amadeus IT Group to form the new company Amadeus Gulf, which provides Global Distribution Systems (GDS) for travel companies and travel agents in the UAE, Bahrain and Oman. The Amadeus reservations system will offer travel agents in these markets access to the database of Etihad Airways’ full range of air fares.
In addition to accessing data on Etihad Airways, Amadeus Gulf will offer travel agencies information on more than 740 other airlines, nearly 80,000 hotels, 17 cruise lines, 22 car rental companies, 190 tour operators and 87 travel insurance companies across the world. Amadeus will also give Etihad Airways greater access to business and leisure travellers across the world and support the airline’s growth strategy.
James Hogan, Chief Executive, Etihad Airways said, “The launch of Amadeus Gulf signals Etihad’s growing ambitions in the travel industry and ability to implement technology that will dramatically simplify the day-to-day business of travel companies and agents. It will give a much wider choice of travel options for our customers.” |
