Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) have mutually agreed to rework the existing ‘Agreement on Code of Practice’ signed between the associations three years ago. The two apex bodies had signed an MoU containing clauses with regard to hotel room booking, cancellation and retention fee in case of cancellation. It was meant to provide useful guidance to hotels and tour operators, with a view to promote harmonious relations and avoid possible misunderstandings or disputes.
In the changed global scenario, IATO has demanded certain changes in the existing MoU’s provisions, which was signed (on October 8, 2005) between Subhash Goyal, then President, IATO and M P Purushothaman, President, FHRAI. IATO is said to have raised the issue during the travel trade stakeholders meeting called by the new Secretary - Tourism in Delhi. “Certain provisions of the existing MoU were framed while there was an all round boom in the travel industry. |
