In an unprecedented move, for the first time ever the entire travel and tourism industry, including hospitality, aviation and chambers of commerce and industry have come together and collectively drafted, as well as presented a list of recommendations for the forthcoming Union Budget 2010-11. This high powered meeting mooted a National Commission on Tourism under the leadership of the Prime Minister of India to make travel and tourism industry a top priority agenda for the Government of India.
Organised by the WTTC India Initiative, these recommendations were chalked out at a joint meeting of all major travel and hospitality associations like TAAI, TAFI, IATO, ADTOI, ATOAI, FHRAI, HAI; industry bodies, FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM in New Delhi recently.
