| | Flight Centre Limited, one of Australia’s biggest travel companies recently stopped selling Singapore Airlines (SQ) tickets. The decision has been taken due to SQ offering lower prices on its website. Apart from the fare price war, Flight Centre is also demanding higher incentive payments as a part of a deal that gives Singapore Airlines a preferred status to Flight Centre’s Australia’s customer base. Due to this, the company has launched a campaign called ‘Turn the screw on SQ’ and has also told its staff that it is initiating a ‘Stop Sell’ on SQ and its subsidiary SilkAir. However, the Flight Shop in India (owned by Australia’s Flight Centre) has not joined in the boycott.
Talking about the Indian scenario, Rahul Nath, Managing Director, FCm Travel Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd. (The corporate brand of Flight Centre) said, “We are aware of the situation at our headquarters in Australia. The issue is about cheaper fares on the carrier's direct website, thus giving a direct competition to Flight Centre for cheaper air fares. However, every country where Flight Centre is present can take its own stand on whether they want to join the boycott. | | Read complete story >> (You need to login first to read complete story).
