'French Connections' to promote Western regions of France in India in 2009

Will target FITs, MICE, Indian film industry

Maison de la France – the tourism arm of France day before yesterday concluded the sixth edition of its annual B2B road show 'French Connections' in New Delhi. This four-day annual road show kicked off at Mumbai with a view to showcase France as a prime tourist destination and to attract more Indian tourists to France. This year, the event witnessed presence of 16 participants from France. Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor, Karim Mekachera, Director – India, Maison de la France said, “This year we received participation from all the major sectors o travel – cruise, hotels, inbound tour operators, region tourism board, rail operators, airlines, etc. Next year we are aiming to bring in operators from the Western parts of France which is yet to be explored by the Indian travel market. Talks are on with regions of Loire, Brittany, Bordeaux and Normandy.” According to Mekachera, the regions will observe the Indian market and may come out with separate promotional activities, once India becomes a potential cash cow for them.
