Goa tourism department identifies eight spots to set up jetties for Hinterland Tourism

With an aim to promote Hinterland Tourism, the Goa tourism department has identified eight spots to set up jetties along with tourist reception centres. The jetties to be set up in the Mandovi River, will be at Divar, Old Goa, Piligao and Khandepar, while in the Zuari River, jetties will be set up at Loutolim, Rachol, Cortalim and Panchwadi in Shiroda. According to a report in Times of India, the jetties are being set up to relieve congestion of tourists in the coastal areas and to take them into the hinterlands so as to expose them to the tourism potential of the lush green interiors of Goa. Swapnil Naik, Director of Tourism, Goa told ToI, “At each of the jetties tourist reception centres will be set up which will include a waiting room, restaurant, souvenir shop and parking area. The tourists can rest at the reception centre before travelling into the hinterlands.
