| | To develop tourism in the state, the Government of Punjab has hired services of international consultants from UNWTO who are currently in the state conducting their research work. At the end of their study they will submit a master plan for the development of tourism in Punjab. This plan will cover short term strategies which Punjab government should implement in the next five years to provide benefit to the existing hot spots of Punjab. The long term strategies will suggest the replication of the plans to other cities of Punjab. Other than this, a team from Asian Development Bank (ADB) is also conducting a techno-feasibility study to ascertain the loan amount of Rs 400 crores, requested by the state to develop infrastructure for the tourism industry. The luxury train in line with ‘Palace on Wheels’ has been approved.
