| | Guest house owners in Karol Bagh and Paharganj of Delhi are unhappy with approval process being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India. Also, they are unhappy with the way MoT is going ahead with the inspection of guest houses in these areas without having representatives of area associations. They allege corruption and favouritism in the whole exercise.
Sandeep Khandelwal, President, Hotel & Restaurant Owners Association of Delhi alleged that the whole exercise of approval and gradation of guest houses ‘smack corruption’. “They are deliberately avoiding us during the inspection drive. If a FHRAI member can be part of classification committee for hotels of MoT, why can’t they include our representatives in the approval committee for guest houses?,” said Khandelwal.
