The Haryana Cabinet has decided to reduce Entertainment Tax (ET) levied on hotels, resorts, clubs and fun and theme parks. Considering the persistent request from hospitality and other related industry associations, the Cabinet has given its approval to reduce the ET from current 25 per cent to ten per cent on establishments including hotels, resorts and clubs, which organises various fun games like billiards, go-karting, balling and pools. In a related decision, the Haryana Cabinet has decided to fully exempt golf courses from the ambit of ET.
Welcoming the Cabinet’s decision, Manbir Choudhary, President, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Haryana (HRAH) said that a lot of hotels and resorts in Gurgaon will benefit from this decision. “We are glad that Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana has responded positively to our demand for reduction of ET, which was by far the highest among other Indian states.” |
